Family Vacation: 3rd March 2009-6th March 2009
Personally, I would say the best way to travel the whole Langkawi Island is with a car. During our trip to Langkawi, we already plan ahead that we should rent a car upon arrival. Since it is a low season, we should able to get good rate.
Upon arrival into Langkawi airport, we have to walk a bit to the conveyor belt to collect our luggage. Not far away, like a few steps away we can see at least 10 car rental counters. Every car rental counter at the arrival hall is placing a huge cardboard to display their special car rental offer. But I prefer to use Sea Hill Management & Tour Sdn Bhd car rental service. Anyway, it was recommended by a friend that are working in Langkawi Island.
Sea Hill offer us a few cars with a very good rate, finally we chose MAZDA 5, fully automatic and only RM290.00 for 4 days!! It is really cheap. Sea Hill will only rent out new cars, so if they deliver a old n dirty car to you, you can reject it and ask for another one.
I like the car very much, the door is automatic, which mean hubby can open and shut the door for me from his driver seats and is so spacious. It saves fuel too.
Always remember to lock the car and do not put any valuable things in the car if you are away.

Hi, good blog you have here.
I’m planning to go to Langkawi next month. Just want to know if I need to pre-book the car or I can just walk to the counter when I’m there. Will definitely try the one from See Hill. Any contact person I should look for. TQ
Hello Feisal, yes you can just walk to the counter to choose the car that you want to rent. If you are not satisfied with the car upon receiving it, you can change it on the spot. No particular person that you should look for but they are all friendly and will explain the car to you before you decide.
Happy travelling!
Hello Stephanie,
I am planning to go to Langkawi early next month. Just wondering was the car covered by insurance at the price you pay for it?
Thank you.
Yes the car includes insurance. We get such price also because it was low season in Langkawi.
hi there, where you guys normally having your meals during your vacation in Langkawi? please recommend some as i am bringing baby there too early May. We are staying at the same place too,, but just worry that we willl get a lousy and run down room. Thanks.
Meg – we bought some nice and yummy bread n pastry for breakfast from The Loaf, read here http://travel.lifeadventurez.com/2009/06/01/delicious-bread-at-the-loaf-langkawi/
as for dinner we went to a Chinese restaurant, see here http://travel.lifeadventurez.com/2009/06/02/best-sotong-goreng-in-langkawi/
other days, we went out with friends for dinner…
Meg-u can also try Spanish food at the HARBOUR PARK, Pantai Kok, same place as The Loaf. The name of the restaurant is Tapaz. Great food n great scenery…but a bit expensive.
Can I get a afordable rental car upon arrival at langkawi airport for two person
thanks for your information.. will go and try it next week during my trip
Upon arrival, there will be a lot of car rental counter looking for customer. So rate is very competitive over there.
Are you sure it’s RM290 for 4 days? Even if it’s low peak season. Coz the website says a Honda Stream / Perdana if already RM300/day! And Mazda 5 is a 7 seater car for RM290 for 4 days? What a good deal!
Yes, very sure. When it is low peak, everyone fighting for customer at the arrival entrance, so you will really get good rate.
If you have plans on going to Israel and decided to rent a car, try Avis Israel. It’s highly recommended by individuals I trust and who have exceptional travel experience.
